Fall walk: Vroman’s Nose, Middleburgh

A famous local landmark with a hiking loop of approximately 2 miles.  There is a moderate 500-foot climb with some steep sections, though two new professionally built trails with switchbacks bypass the very steep sections.  The spectacular views make the effort well worth the effort, especially with fall foliage!  Leader: Dave Bourque.  Directions: Take Rt. 30 through Schoharie to Middleburgh, where Rt. 30 makes a sharp right.  From the traffic light, cross the Rt. 30 bridge over Schoharie Creek and proceed south; at 0.7 miles turn right onto Mill Valley Rd., and follow it 0.6 miles to the large parking lot on the left.  Address: 219 Mill Valley Rd., Middleburgh, NY 12122.
