Paddle at Schoharie Crossing

Join ECOS and the Schoharie Crossing State Historic Site for a paddle on the Mohawk River and Schoharie Creek. We’ll learn about the history and ecological impacts of the Erie Canal and Barge Canal.
This is a one-way paddle, so we will either stage cars and carpool between the put-in and takeout locations, or join Josh and stage a bike at the takeout for the 3-mile ride back to the put-in.
We will start from the Yankee Hill Lock site at the east end of the park, transit the Tribes Hill lock (Lock 12), then enter the mouth of the Schoharie Creek and pass the remnants of the Erie Canal aqueduct. We will end the trip at the Aqueduct Boat Launch.
Many of us will likely head to Karen’s for lunch and ice cream afterwards.
