Join bird walk leader John Loz for our first in a monthly series of Second Sunday Bird Walks through the end of 2025. For this walk we will learn the basics of using binoculars, spotting birds, and identifying birds based on their ‘field marks.’ The group will walk the Mohawk-Hudson Bikeway rail trail for about 2 miles round trip.
Although we are targeting this first walk for beginners, all levels of expertise are welcome to join these walks! Bring your binoculars if you have them, but if you do not own a pair, John will have a few binoculars to loan out for the walk. Dress for the weather and wear comfortable and weather-proof footwear. This event is geared towards teenagers and adults.
Expected bird species: Winter regulars such as Black-capped Chickadee, Tufted Titmouse, Northern Cardinal, various woodpeckers, and winter waterfowl and raptors, as well as some possible early spring migrants.
