Join ECOS at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, July 17, as we tour the Sustainable Living Center in Schenectady’s Central Park.
The Sustainable Living Center, located adjacent to the tennis courts, serves as a demonstrative and educational hub for the various environmental education programs hosted by Cornell Cooperative Extension of Schenectady.
The center’s goal is to provide research-based, hands-on learning opportunities for adults and children in the areas of gardening, environmental stewardship, job skills and youth development as well as the support of a sustainable food system. On site there is small-scale, high-volume agricultural production, designated pollinator gardens, native plant displays, innovative sustainable technologies, and a community compost area.
CCE Schenectady offers a variety of community education programs, including a Little Diggers Gardening Program for kids, the Master Composter/Recycling program, the Master Gardener program, and a Seed to Supper program for beginning gardeners.
