Tuesday Ski and Snowshoe Outing: Empire State Trail, Amsterdam

Will Seyse will lead us along the Empire State Trail, starting in Amsterdam.

We will meet in the trailhead parking lot behind Lorenzo’s Southside restaurant in Amsterdam.  The address is 1 Port Jackson Square.  This is about 1/2 hour from Schenectady.

The abandoned rail trail is very level, and at this point well compacted by snowmobile traffic.  Cold temperatures and these snow conditions guarantee an easy skiable surface.  Snow shoeing is possible along the side of the trail but there may not be a leader for this group.

The planned trip is about 2 1/2 miles west towards Fort Johnson, and return.   Plan to be outside for about 2 1/2 hours.
