Twig Detectives

February 22 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Get ready for our second annual Twig Detectives workshop, this year to be held at our headquarters at the Niskayuna Senior Center. Even in winter, even without leaves, our tree friends are still present, each distinctive enough to be recognized. In this workshop we will first go over basic anatomy of twigs and branches, and then head out and look at the bark, branching, and forms unique to some of our most common species.

Once again our leader will be Rich Ring, a botanist and ecologist with 30 years of experience working in Northeastern forests, and a member of the board of directors of the New York Flora Association. Please dress warmly (much of the time we’ll be outside), and bring water, and a hand lens or magnifying glass if you have one. In case of prohibitive weather, the snow day for this event will be the following Sunday, March 1, same place and time.
