Weekend Winter Outing: Ski (or walk) the Mohawk-Hudson Bike-Hike Trail in Amsterdam

Will Seyse will be leading this ski or walk trip beginning in Amsterdam on the Mohawk Hudson Bike Path going west from Lorenzo’s Southside Restaurant, 1 Port Jackson Square, Amsterdam NY 12010.

Participants should drive into and through Lorenzo’s parking lot. It dead ends at the bike trail. We will walk about 100 yards— down a slight grade, across a street, and up a slight grade to the bike path. We will ski for an hour or more west, or about 2 miles, and return. The path is about 20’ wide and has 4”-6” of powder snow. Most of the path is in the shade all winter. With the predicted temperatures this snow should still be there Saturday for us to enjoy. Those who want to walk need good boots and they might prefer micro spikes for the short preliminary walk to get to the bike path. Ski poles or hiking poles are recommended for all. If another “leader” shows up we could split into two groups. Quite flat; should be fun.
