We are planning on walking the Vischer Ferry Preserve from Ferry Road to the Lock 7 overview where we will find open water with the possibility of a Bald Eagle fishing and mergansers and other ducks enjoying themselves below the power plant (binoculars?). Then we will return to Ferry Road and continue down to Lock 19 (original double chamber lock) for those who would like to do more before we return to our cars. Note, there is insufficient snow for skiing. We will meet in the Ferry Road parking lot at 9:30 am. If you have traction devices for your boots and hiking poles, it would be good to bring them along.
Directions: Go north on Balltown Road (Rt. 146) across the Rexford bridge, then turn right at Stewart’s onto Riverview Rd. Bear right at the Grooms rd intersection. Turn right at Ferry Rd. This is about 5.5 miles from Stewart’s. If you get to the Fire station you have gone too far. Park at the end of Ferry Rd.
