Weekday Winter Outing: Great Flats Nature Trail

Our Tuesday outing on January 14 will be visiting the Great Flats Nature Trail in Rotterdam. The parking area is on Campbell Road, just off the I-890 Campbell Road exit (towards the Rotterdam Mall). It is on the right side of the road shortly after getting onto Campbell Road. We’ll meet there at 9:30am. The Great Flats preserve has a long loop of 1 mile, and a shorter loop of 0.4 miles, both beginning about a 0.5 mile walk from the parking area. Total distance will therefore be either 2 miles or 1.4 miles, depending on the group’s wishes. There are two ponds along the way, and a significant amount of well-maintained boardwalk. Either route is essentially flat. The area was mainly snow covered on the checkout walk, so boots should be sufficient.
