Ciarán Hussey, a Green-Schools Travel Officer working for the Environmental Education Unit of An Taisce, will discuss how he helps schools increase the number of pupils walking, cycling, scooting, carpooling, using public transport or using park ‘n’ stride instead of the private car on the school run.
An Taisce is a charitable non-governmental organization active in the areas of the environment and built heritage in the Republic of Ireland. Hussey’s primary role is to encourage behavioral change within school populations and the adjoining communities, focusing on active and sustainable travel. He lives and works in the West of Ireland.
Hussey will discuss active travel barriers, solutions and ways of instilling a sense of empowerment and hope within the students, equipping them with the relevant mindset tools that they can use going forward.
Please note that this talk will take place at 6 p.m. instead of the usual 7 p.m. as Hussey is located overseas.
