Zoom Speaker Series: New York State of Seed

Currently there is a growing demand for native seed and plant material for habitat restoration, landscaping and home gardening.  The popularity of new resources by Doug Tallamy, Uli Lorimer, and others have underscored the need for sourcing plants that will best support local healthy ecosystems and the organisms that live in them.

Laura Lehtonen will give an overview of the “native seed pipeline,” including state and regional efforts to increase sources of native seed.   Fall is a good time to learn about ethical seed collection, winter sowing and the creation of “founder” or seed increase plots.  You can be part of the solution!
