Fall Walk: Shenentaha Creek Park, Malta

The Shenentaha, meaning “deer water” in Iroquois, flows along the eastern boundary of this small park.  The deep bowls in the rock in this woodland may have formed from glacial action, or from Iroquois use as mortars.  Leader: Elizabeth Collins. Directions: From Rt. 87 take exit 12 to Rt. 67 west. At the village of Eastline, take Eastline Rd.(Rt. 82) south about half a mile, then turn east for the road into the park, crossing the Zim Smith Mid Country Trail. From the south you can take Ashdown/Schauber Rd. north to Eastline Rd., where a brief trek north brings you to the park entrance road.
