Kayak outing: Mohawk River Paddle

The Lock 8 Fishing Access Site is on the Glenville side of the Mohawk River, at Lock 8 (Maalwyck Park). We will launch from the stony beach downstream of the Lock 8 dam at 5:30 p.m. We will explore the Mohawk islands; leader Bob Cooley will point out the changes he has seen paddling the islands over the last 50 years, emphasizing the effects of Hurricane Irene. Various waterfowl will be seen, along with the occasional sighting of beaver, turtles, deer, etc.
