Tuesday Ski and Snowshoe Outing: Vischer Ferry Nature and Historic Preserve
January 13 @ 9:30 am - 11:30 am
Leader Karen Wang will take the group from the Whipple Bridge parking area to Lock 19 or, if people are game for more rugged conditions, we can continue on the loop trail through the woods back to the cars. Portions of the trail are clear, but there are also some but pretty icy areas in the more protected spots so folks are going to need microspikes or (less effective but better than nothing) Yaktrax to walk there. All of the trails are passable although there are some downed trees to climb over on the trails back in the woods. See “Whipple Truss Bridge Vischer Ferry” in Google Maps for directions if you are unfamiliar with the area.
Please let Karen know by Monday afternoon if you’ll be joining us. Karen can be reached at [email protected] or at 518-399-3108 (landline – do not text).
To attend an outing, you will need to contact the leader of the day. Their name, email address, phone number and the outing location will be sent to all who are on our outing email list by Sunday or Monday immediately preceding the Tuesday of the trip. Trip details will also be on the ECOS Facebook page. Meeting time at the trailhead will be 9:30 a.m.
Outings will be at locations generally within the Capital District. Locations are based on snow conditions each week. Last year we had many “traction gear” outings when the snow did not cooperate.
ECOS participants MUST stay with the group. Bring your own
water and snack and dress in layers.
