Tuesday Ski and Snowshoe Outing: Yankee Hill

February 17 @ 9:30 am - 11:30 am

Bob Cooley will lead this cross-country ski trip. We’ll start at Yankee Hill, about 2 miles east of the Schoharie Crossing State Park.

Please have your equipment on and be ready to ski at 9:30am. Please remember to sign in and to stay with the group.

It is about 18 miles from Scotia. Take Rt 5S west, turn right at Broadway Extension, (about 2 miles west after crossing Rt 30), then turn left at Queen Ann St. Park in the lot at Yankee Hill (original Erie Canal, lock 28).

The trail is totally flat (less than 20 feet vertical change) on the “Eagle Trail” going east on the old tow path. It is a wooded, flat trail next to the Mohawk River. We will ski 2 miles & return on the same trail.

We will pass Lock 12 of the Barge Canal. This trail is minimally used, but great for animal tracks, thru a flood plain woods, viewing the frozen Mohawk River & seeing some winter birds

If interested or need more information, call or text Bob Cooley at 518-669-6093 or email [email protected].
