Come join us for our 22nd Annual Rachel Carson Dinner October 10th, 2023
Van Curler Ballroom at SUNY Schenectady
Our keynote speaker will be Union College Professor Emeritus George Shaw
“Averting the Climate Crisis: you’ll probably find something you don’t like”
Dr. Shaw is a Prof. emeritus in Geosciences at Union College. He was previously at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities. He spent one year as a Congressional Science Fellow working for a congressman on the Energy and Commerce Committee of the U.S. House of Representatives, perhaps most importantly on the High Level Nuclear Waste Policy Act. He returned to Schenectady in 1988 to restart a Geology Department at Union. His research is on high pressure properties of solids and solutions, Earth’s early conditions (including surface properties and formation of the core), tracing and chemistry of streams in the Town of Wright in Schoharie, and energy resources and energy policy.
